Academic and Programs

PRE-SCHOOL

Children of today need full attention as they explore their environment that surrounds them. Even at a young age, they start to get curious and learn things out. Our preschool takes care of the potentials of these 2 to 5 years old toddlers and nourishes them. Its curricula vary according to their miles stone. Basically patterned with the BEC prescribed by the DepED but more with the school expertise of providing a conducive and spoonful learning environment and experiences. Nursery and Kinder are in morning session and Preparatory in the afternoon.

It supports the child’s developmental process in a natural way and facilitates learning with fun and excitement. The holistic growth that the preschool program aims is achieved by providing activities that develop mental and intellectual ability, behavioral decency and mobilization of good habits brought by skills development.

SOCIALIZATION is our key of putting them in a scenario where they learn things by on their own. Considering the Law of Readiness, this eases us to provide trainings in line with academics such as:

Reading Improvement Specialist (RIS); this program provides series and stages of reading development where they learn phonetics and start reading words the proper way and beginning sounds of the alphabets. Stages are described through the use of colorful reading materials, letters and number blocks and cassette tapes for them to listen and follow. This is conducted everyday or as frequent as the parent might request. Each child brings home a tutor log for parents to follow up the progress of each lesson.

Playing Time; the designed playpen made especially for the preschoolers is equipped with colorful character that helps in developing visual-sensory skills. While motor-skills are fed up through the educational toys where the pupils have the free access under the supervision of their teacher and the teacher’s aide.

Family Day; the few hours that the preschoolers spent in school needs to be filled by quality time with their parents/guardians. This helps to balance their school time to home time. This socialization keeps the young kids a look of their real life from their school life.

ELEMENTARY

Primary grades and Intermediate grades classified the school elementary department. Primary grades cover the first to fourth graders while intermediate starts from fifth to sixth graders. Primary grades (First Grade to Fourth Grade) are children whose ages start from 6 years old. Admission is strictly followed, i.e. for an applicant/pupil to be admitted in First grade, he/she must be or will be 6 years old by the 1st of June of the school year. Pupils in this level are prepared to be come independent. Guided by their respective homeroom teachers, their classes are departmentalized and starts from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM. The medium of Instruction in all subjects is English except in Filipino. Subjects offered in this level are the subjects enumerated by the DepEd current curriculum (BEC). HELE (Home Economics and Livelihood Education) is not offered in this level. Instead, Science and Technology is introduced and other electives such as: Computer Education; this training includes the basic computer operation and advantage and ethical way of using computer.

Reading Improvement Specialist (RIS); a continuation of the reading development given during the pre elementary level helps them to enrich what they started, however, this is also given compulsory to the pupils of this level to promote school’s goal of “Zero None Reader after Grade 3”.

Kuzma’s Assistance for Academic Development (KAAD); Unlike RIS, KAAD provide extra assistance to the pupils who find difficulty in Reading, Writing, Arithmetic and the like. In this program, facilitator/adviser chooses a certain activity which he/she sees necessary or what his/her class needs.

Intermediate grades (Fifth to Sixth Grade); pupils promoted from the primary level advance on this level. This level provides training in preparation for their high school. Classes are also departmentalized and starts from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM. All subjects in this level are also taught in English except in Filipino Subjects. HELE (Home Economics and Livelihood Education) is introduced and Computer Education this time as a Subject Area. Six Grades are candidates for Graduation at the end of the school year if all the requirements for certification have met. Reading Hour is the reading opportunity given to all the pupils in the elementary. Each class visits the library or stays on their homeroom everyday reading their preferred reading materials greatly supervised by their teacher-adviser.

HIGH SCHOOL

The students perform depends on how the school curriculum is practiced and administered. The high school curriculum follows the RBEC 2002 prescribed by the Department of Education (DepEd). The curriculum is enriched with elective subjects that contribute in promoting holistic development and producing productive citizens. Classes in high school start at 7:30 AM and end at 4:00 PM. All subjects are taught in English except in Filipino. Academic and Non-Academic trainings are added making each student skilled, productive and cultured. Students are encouraged to give a part of their time everyday reading at the library or at their homeroom, (Reading Hour). This aims to promote love of reading since reading provides unlimited learning. Teacher/Adviser sits with the students and assists them while reading. Therefore, they enrich their speaking skills using English as their medium. Once a week, each class has ESL training under their English teacher and a Volunteer Retired Canadian English School Teacher. Students are given the chance to have a one-on-one conversational exercise with the trainer.

In addition, secondary levels are given Social and Professional Ethics as part of molding them to face the future ahead of them.

Special P.E (Physical Education) on the other hand gives recreational time to the students. This once a week activity varies every quarter where students find it very unwinding and relaxing after a week of academic bombardment as what they termed it. List of the activity are as follows:

First Quarter: Taeboxing and Taekwondo

Second Quarter: Rhythmic Activities (Folk/Hip-Hop Dances)

Third Quarter: Gymnastics and Aerobics

Fourth Quarter: Ball Games (Basketball and Volleyball)

Each student is encouraged to join an academic or non-academic club/organization. Academic organizations are dubbed from the name of the subjects (Major Subjects), Math, Science, Filipino and English. On the other hand, non-academic organizations include; Kuzmix (Dance Troupe), JFK Choir (Glee Club), Pep Squad, JFK Knights (Basketball) BSP (Boy Scout) and GSP (Girl Scout).

High school students are also involved in community outreach program as their culminating activity on their *CAT (Citizen Advancement Training). Community Service during Saturdays and Annual Gift giving during Christmas season are just some of their activities.

*CAT, required to graduating high school students (seniors) and is voluntary to up-coming seniors students
